SOPHIE LA GIRAFE® A GOOD TOY FOR BABIES

I do not know if I have ever told you that I have been a teacher for many years. One of the subjects I teach in business schools where I work is about corporate online reputation. I like for my students to collect all the cases that I know and to be able to offer them an updated information. A few months ago I echoed the information and rumors circulating around the world’s most famous giraffe, Sophie la girafe®, a toy for babies that I myself have recommended many times in this blog of childcare since my children have played with her in their early childhoods, always accompanying us at home and on our walks. Over the past 56 years, child safety and parent satisfaction have been a top priority for Sophie the girafe® and the company that manufactures it, Vulli, striving to meet the highest safety standards. So, why are there negative publications appearing about it? Seriously, before posting something on social networks I recommend you check the information. Charles Handy, a lecturer at the London Business School, said: “Trust is like glass: one has to be patient in making it, and despite its apparent hardness, once it breaks into a thousand pieces, it is very difficult to put together the fragments and recompose it “. You do not know what it can mean for a brand and the people who work on it for these type of actions. Keep reading and I’ll tell you more.

Reputation, according to RAE is the opinion, consideration, prestige or esteem that one has of someone or something. Brands must focus their efforts on building their reputation understood as the prestige they achieve before their audiences over time by the actions they carry out. If for me, Sophie girafe® was a good toy, now I can say that after analyzing how Vulli has endured this case, it has a good reputation, although there are those who are determined to see it fail.

Before the appearance of some publications in which Sophie the girafe® was shown with mold and was alerted use in the babies the brand has explained that the giraffe is made with 100% natural rubber and that its instructions of use must be respected carefully. Because if you leave a toy in the bathtub then this happens. It is not a toy of aquatic use and water needs to be avoiding entering inside and damaging it, the giraffe should not be submerged in water nor sterilized, instead washed with soapy water in a moistened cloth. Sounds like a drawer, come on. Then the product is misused and you are already charged to a brand and a product that has been in the market for 56 years. In fact the people who have been speaking badly of her (information that many media have later replicated without reaching the bottom of the question, something that also seems fatal to me), have not contacted the brand at any time nor have they sent their giraffes to could be examined. They have dedicated themselves to publishing negative information about it without further ado. Think that the network generates millions of content, information and opinions that speak about people, companies, products, services. Search engines index words that relate people, brands or products to any of those information or opinions. We have to be very responsible with what we publish. Contact the source and explain to our readers what we have discovered, whether good or bad.

Vulli, the maker of Sophie the girafe®, has made it clear that it is not possible that a baby’s saliva can cause the kind of mold formation that is shown in the images they have published. “Internal studies have been carried out, in which it has been indicated that it is unlikely that the saliva can become mold,” they explain. Think that this is a toy that children suck and bite so it is made with 100% natural rubber and following the strictest quality controls. It will not grow moldy because the children will bite or suck. The brand has made a video that I have shared below explaining how to clean Sophie the girafe® with soapy water and a damp cloth. So I encourage you to join the cause with the hashtag #salvaraSophie so that babies can continue to enjoy the world’s most famous giraffy.
