Si no ponemos remedio a tiempo podemos tener muchas complicaciones a medio plazo.

KOA CENTER, TO COMBAT MY ABDOMINAL DIASSTASE

This world has given me many joys and illusions. It has also allowed me to meet wonderful people with whom I have shared my experiences and my journey. I think three years ago one of my favorite brands of childcare: Bugaboo, invited me to an event in Madrid to do running with one of their strollers. I had a great coach that day, Fito Florensa, with whom I then met again on the AVE upon my return to Barcelona. Fito holds a degree in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences, personal trainer of elite athletes, celebrities and people who want to lead a healthy and happy life, as well as an entrepreneur and technical director of his own health center, nutrition and training, KOA . I really wanted to visit KOA, I had been told wonderful things about this place, but time had passed, until just right before summer on one of my trips a lady came to congratulate me on my pregnancy. What pregnancy do you think? Well, that’s what I said to the lady. Seriously, if you see a girl with a tummy, avoid the question. If it is on tape it would be very funny to answer (or not) but if it is not (like in my case) i will not even say how bad it could be (for some and for others). Prudence always, please. I am convinced that I am not the only woman in this world who is bloated after eating. That’s not the problem. My problem in particular, the one we are trying to solve at KOA, is that I am bloated all day, from the time I get up until I go to bed. And it caused by the functional diastase of the rectum. In theory, after giving birth, everything should have returned to its place, but this sometimes does not occur. If we do not remedy in time we can have many complications in the medium term. Here, I will tell you more.

During pregnancy, our baby is growing inside the uterus that goes from 7 cm to 35 cm in 9 months. In addition to the hormonal changes, the rectos abdominals are separated so that our son has space. We have two straight right and left. Both are hooked in the midline of the body, known as the alba line. They are also anchored at the upper border of the pubis and on the anterior face of the costal cartilages. As the pregnancy progresses, there is also a stretching of the transverse abdomen.

Abdominal straight lines keep our body erect, allow trunk flexion, limit inspiration and facilitate exhalation. Imagine if they are important. After giving birth, sometimes the deep transverse becomes loose and does not return to its place. Over time we may have a herniation of the abdominal viscera, back pains, digestive problems like gas, constipation, heavy digestions and even our pelvic floor can deteriorate a lot, since the abdominal wall is not able to cushion the efforts. All this is the so-called rectus diastasis. And it is more common than we think. In some cases, the rectus abdomens will only separate with a distention of the fibrous tissue (Functional diastase) but in other cases there is a rupture of the tissue (Anatomic Dysostosis). After a medical examination, my diastase is functional, so I can recover by doing a proper exercise. Do not even think about doing it yourself (for example sit-ups) without the help of an expert because the diastasis can increase even more.

So I put myself in the hands of Fito because I trust him and his professionalism. I have started to go to their KOA training center when returning from the holidays. What differentiates this center from all that I have come across? Their team and methodology. It’s not just about having a personal trainer, I have three different professionals one hour for three days a week: I have a wonderful physiotherapist expert in maternity and pelvic floor, I have a physical trainer coordinated with the physiotherapist and I have a nutritionist who helps with my food and life habits. I must say that before I started I also had a wonderful sports medicine doctor, Dr. Ignacio Muro who valued my case. Dr. Muro is a doctor of the Joventut Club of Badalona in the ACB basketball league, he was also a Seat Sport team doctor in the WTCC World Championship and is a specialist in Training Control and Functional Recovery of Injuries at Teknon Barcelona Medical Center. I did all the necessary tests for a day before starting my personalized training at KOA. And it was not only a health questionnaire and an electrocardiogram, but an anthropometric analysis, a submaximal exertion test, an assessment of my postural alignments, among many other things that now has and knows all my KOA team to work at unison. The training is adapted to me and only to me, because each person and each body is different. In other centers they may be adapt to your needs, schedules and life stress, but the difference here is sports medicine, nutrition and specialists in my field: diastasis and pelvic floor by maternity. These are not everywhere. Also, to work every morning in a relaxing, intimate and trustworthy place.

I do not know about you but every time I pointed to a gym I stopped going because when I arrived or I was put into a training class (horror) or I into a room full of machines. Besides, not knowing which machine was the most appropriate for me, when I saw the type of audience that trained there I did not feel comfortable or identified. I had a personal trainer for a year after my first maternity leave at one of these gyms, but I was only put on a weekly exercise chart. Nor did he care about my problems, my diet, my habits of life, my schedules, my travels, my stress, my needs, nor were they postpartum experts. I was just one more number. At KOA, they set goals and make them a reality. I am going to tell you how this process of change in my life is going and I promise to show you the final result.

Before ending, if any of you after becoming moms (although years may have past) have back pains, digestive problems, gases and believes that your digestions are heavy because of belly swells, I encourage you to look into the state of your abdominals. Lie on your back on a mat or stable surface with your legs bent, support your feet on the floor. Put the tips of your fingers in the center of the relaxed abdomen (on the sunrise line), above the navel and then underneath it. Gather air and exhale through the mouth, slightly raising the head and shoulders off the ground. If you dig your fingers down or increase the separation between right and left, it would be important that you go to an expert in diastasis to evaluate them.

Hola Maria Jose!! Te has recuperado al 100%?

Te van a dar mucho cariño. Un besito
