¿Vuestros bebés tienen o han tenido cólicos? Por suerte los míos jamás los tuvieron. Quizás es porque se alimentaron con leche materna y está demostrado que esta reduce los cólicos y ayuda a los bebés a dormir mejor. El cólico del lactante es un trastorno típico de los primeros meses de vida de los bebés que se caracteriza por un llanto intenso y prolongado sin causa aparente. Se le suele llamar cólico de gases y estoy totalmente convencida que ese es el problema en los pequeños. Al no mamar correctamente o al tragar aire entre toma y toma del biberón. Los gases les hacen mucho daño provocando su llanto intenso, tampoco todos son capaces de digerir correctamente la leche artificial. Hay muchas teorías sobre el por qué de los cólicos, la que os he dado aquí es mi opinión en base a mi experiencia. Se estima que cerca de un 40% de los lactantes los han tenido. Como es un porcentaje alto son muchas las marcas de pequeña puericultura que desarrollan biberones específicos para mitigar estos trastornos. A mi me cuesta mucho hablar de biberones porque casi no he utilizado. Muchas veces los cólicos no vienen solo por la ingestión de aire del bebé sino porque la leche materna se digiere muy bien (ya que está hecha de un humano para otro humano) y la leche artificial (leche de vaca modificada) cuesta más digerirla, provocando más molestias al bebé. Un niño que mama come más frecuentemente y tarda más rato en acabar, sin embargo su digestión es más rápida. La succión además le relaja y da sueño (del esfuerzo). La leche está calentita en el pecho de mamá que además le abraza todo el rato. Todo esto le hace dormir. Un niño que se llene el estómago de leche materna puede acabar la digestión a los 90 minutos de haber comido, mientras que un niño que se llene de leche artificial tardará casi el doble, cerca de las 3 horas. La digestión será mucho más compleja.
