Podría haber titulado este post: “Probamos el colchón eve Sleep, estrella del descanso en Londres y EEUU” pero no sería lo mismo. Lo que sí que quiero contaros es una historia muy graciosa que tiene que ver con este colchón y nuestra mudanza. Como os comenté hace unos días en este blog y en mis redes sociales nos cambiamos de casa. En la nueva no tenemos ni una bombilla pero tenemos un colchón. Es lo único. Justo estábamos decidiendo nuestra nueva vida cuando la marca Eve, especializada en productos de alta calidad para el descanso, me contactó para probar su colchón visoelástico estrella, el eve Sleep. En otras circunstancias hablar de un producto así me habría resultado raro y poco oportuno en este blog, pero resulta que me escribieron justo cuando decidíamos que nos mudamos y este colchón nos ha venido como anillo al dedo. Eso sí, hemos dormido en él toda la familia, colechando los cuatro (que nos encanta). Después de la experiencia ya puedo aseguraros que es comodísimo y además, divertido. Eso no tiene tanto que ver con el colchón sino con la experiencia de estar en una casa vacía con sólo un colchón como compañero de cuatro. Pero seguid leyendo que os cuento más.
Hace unas semanas fui a una tienda de puericultura a escuchar al pediatra Carlos González hablar sobre colecho. Soy seguidora suya desde que tuve a mi primer hijo y me leí su libro “Un regalo para toda la vida”, sobre lactancia materna (8 años y medio llevo con la lactancia, no os digo más). Mi decisión no tuvo que ver con leer un libro sino con mi propio sentido común. En este camino de la lactancia, mi cabeza me decía que era imposible que yo me levantara 5 o 6 veces por la noche a ver a mi hijo a su habitación para darle el pecho. Así que hasta los 4 años estuvo durmiendo con nosotros. Tuvo su primera habitación al mudarnos al piso en el que hemos estado hasta ahora y porque nació su hermana y ella ocupó su espacio en nuestro cuarto. Sin embargo, muchas noches bajaba (y baja) de su litera y se metía (mete) en la cama. Con lo cual dormir los cuatro juntos es muy común. Esto lo vivimos como algo natural que hacemos con amor y gusto.
Al oír a Carlos González en esta conferencia me sentía totalmente identificada. Es cierto que he leído algunos de sus libros: “Bésame mucho”, “Mi niño no me come” y “Creciendo juntos”. Todos me han encantado y resultado muy útiles en algunas etapas como madre pero en el tema de la lactancia y el dormir es donde siempre lo he tenido más claro. El colecho es una práctica normal en muchas partes del mundo. De hecho el 87% de los niños del mundo duerme acompañado. En países como Noruega, Suecia o Japón, casi un 90% de las familias duermen con sus hijos de forma habitual.
Por eso cuando me llegó el colchón viscoelástico eve lo tuve claro: lo probaríamos todos juntos hasta que tuviéramos listas las habitaciones de los peques. Han pasado 12 años para desarrollarlo. Dicen que es el colchón más cómodo que jamás se ha inventado. No tiene muelles, es simple. Su sistema de capas y la espuma viscoelástica de última generación, ofrecen una mayor amortiguación y un sueño más placentero. El colchón me llegó directamente por mensajero, sellado al vacío y enrollado en una caja. Lo desenrollamos en la habitación y lo dejamos ahí unas horas. Él solo se fue expandiendo hasta ocupar su tamaño. Este sistema me parece cómodo: no hay que cargar con un colchón de gran tamaño ni por las escaleras ni por los ascensores.
En cuanto a su composición, tiene tres capas de espuma recubiertas de material viscoelástico. La cubierta está hecha de poliester, que aporta una superficie suave en la que poder descansar y acentúa los efectos de la espuma viscoelástica, que se encuentra debajo. El poliéster es hipoalergénico y resistente. Los laterales del colchón están revestidos de un tejido amarillo de alta calidad, que hace que sea más moderno y transpire mejor permitiendo que el aire circule durante toda la noche. Los materiales usados en la cubierta y los laterales están certificados por Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Clase 1, por lo que han sido testados y aprobados por expertos asegurando que no contienen sustancias nocivas ni dañinas. Por cierto, la cubierta es intercambiable y se puede lavar a máquina a 40º.
Justo debajo de esta funda hay cuatro centímetros de espuma viscoelástica. Tras una amplia investigación, en la marca descubrieron que es la medida exacta para mantenernos estables y cómodos al mismo tiempo. La espuma está diseñada para envolvernos, liberar los puntos de presión y facilitar nuestros movimientos mientras dormimos. Esta capa absorbe los movimientos de la pareja para que todos los demás durmamos tranquilamente. Lleva también tres centímetros de capa transpirable en el centro. Estos son esenciales ya que aseguran que nos despertemos frescos después de una noche de calor. El material del que está hecho es un 30% más traspirable que el viscoelástico convencional. Finalmente, el colchón está construido sobre una gruesa capa de espuma ultrarresistente que le proporciona una base sólida que fortalece las capas superiores. Es tan resistente que aguanta los saltos de la tribu (lo veis en las fotos).

SLEEPING TOGETHER IN OUR NEW HOME
I could have titled this post: “We tried the eve Sleep mattress, a star for rest in London and USA” but it would not be the same. What I want to tell you is a very funny story that has to do with this mattress and our move. As I said a few days ago in this blog and in my social networks we moved from home. In the novelties, we do not even have a light bulb but we have a mattress. Its the only thing. We were just deciding our new life when the Eve brand, specializing in high-quality rest products, contacted me to try out their viscoelastic mattress star, the eve Sleep. In other circumstances talking about a product like this would have been rare and timely on this blog, but it turns out that they wrote me just when we decided that we moved and this mattress has come to us with perfect timing. Of course, the whole family has slept in it, casting all four (which we love). After the experience I can assure you that it is very comfortable and also fun. That does not have so much to do with the mattress but with the experience of being in an empty house with only a mattress and a companion of four. But keep reading and I tell you more.
A few weeks ago I went to a pedicure shop to listen to the pediatrician Carlos González talk about collection. I have been a follower of his since I had my first child and I read his book “A gift for a lifetime”, about breastfeeding (8 and a half years I have been breastfeeding, I will not tell you more). My decision had nothing to do with reading a book but with my own common sense. On this path of breastfeeding, my head told me that it was impossible for me to get up 5 or 6 times at night to see my son to his room to breastfeed. So until he was 4 he was sleeping with us. He had his first room when we moved to the flat we have been up to now and because his sister was born and she occupied his space in our room. However, many nights he went down from his bunk and got into the bed. So sleeping the four together is very common. We live this as something natural that we do with love and pleasure.
Listening to Carlos Gonzalez at this conference I totally identified. It is true that I have read some of his books: “Kiss me a lot”, “My child does not eat me” and “Growing together”. All I have loved and been very useful in some stages as a mother but in the subject of breastfeeding and sleeping is where I have always been more clear. The collection is a standard practice in many parts of the world. In fact, 87% of the world’s children sleep together. The mattress came directly to me by courier, vacuum-sealed and rolled up in a box. We unpacked it in the room and left it there for a few hours. It expanded until it reached its size. This system seems comfortable to me: it is not necessary to carry a large mattress neither for the stairs nor for the elevators.
As for its composition, it has three layers of foam coated with viscoelastic material. The cover is made of polyester, which provides a soft surface on which to rest and accentuates the effects of the viscoelastic foam, which is below. The polyester is hypoallergenic and resistant. The sides of the mattress are covered with a high quality yellow fabric, which makes it more modern and transpires better allowing the air to circulate throughout the night. The materials used on the cover and the sides are certified by Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Class 1 and has been tested and approved by experts to ensure that they contain no harmful substances. By the way, the cover is interchangeable and can be machine washed at 40°.
Just under this sheath is four inches of viscoelastic foam. After extensive research, the brand discovered that it is the exact measure to keep us stable and comfortable at the same time. The foam is designed for wrapping, releasing pressure points and facilitating our movements while we sleep. This layer absorbs the movements of the couple so that all others sleep peacefully. It also has three inches of a breathable layer in the center. These are essential as they ensure that we wake up fresh after a hot night. The material of which is made is 30% more breathable than conventional viscoelastic. Finally, the mattress is built on a thick layer of ultra-resistant foam that provides a solid foundation that strengthens the upper layers.
